Smoking Accident at a hotel and Kings Basketball Game

This morning, around 7 a.m., there was a big chaos in the Quality Inn and Suites where I am staying. When I finished a shower, a fire alarm rang out loudly and I went out from my room as I had learned before in the U.K- actually, I had gotten a ticket in Lancaster because I hadn't gone out from a lab even during a fire fighting safety education. kkk As I rushed to the lobby in the hotel with my husband, there was no other trainees. So, I could suppose that there would be a problem in one of the trainees' rooms.

After about 5 minutes of loud alarming, two fire engines arrived and firemen ran into the room of Catherine and Julie. In fact, they borrowed a portable heating machine because a heating system in their room was out of order. It seemed that the machine had a short-circuit failure, and made sparks and smoke.

Anyway, both of them were O.K. but they went to see a doctor to check their sore throat with my husband. It would have been a big fire if that machine had made the problem while they had been sleeping.

After lunch, Young, Claire, and I went around Sac State, drinking Cafe Latte. The weather was awesome and even shaking branches under the blue sky looked beautiful.

We found out a spot for a rock climbing nearby a gym and I want to try that once during the final week of this course in Sacramento.

Around 5 o'clock, the trainees except Julie and Cathy, who wanted to take a rest, took a huge school bus to see a basket ball game between Kings and Pacers. It looked very strange for me that the school bus didn't have any seat belts for passengers. The bus driver drove through a free way over around 100 km and I was worried about the safeness.

Watching the basket ball game was a great fun even for me ,who had never seen a sport game outside, having a hot dog, nachos, and tender chicken with fries,

I found out that the team, Pacers' score is the first among 15 teams in the Eastern area in the U.S.A. and Kings' score is the lowest among 15 teams in the Western area in the country. However, the game was nip and tuck and I couldn't take my eyes off the game though Pacers defeated Kings.

Tomorrow's schedule is to travel to San Francisco and 17 miles along the West Coast. I hope the trip with other trainees and my husband would be safe as well as joyful.

Sac State Campus Tour

Some staffs picked us up to the Sac State and we had an opening ceremony, going around the campus with Anna and Bryan Rim.

The tour made me remind the campus tour in BUFS on the first day of TTP 5 months ago. Time really flies.

                                                         @ Napa Hall

Tan Su, one of the staffs working for this program explained every building and some restaurants in the Union building which made me a little bit happy because the breakfast Quality Inn provides was not manageable for me as well as other trainees. I'm still wondering how the former trainees packed their lunch boxes with the breakfast.

After lunch, we attended a special lecture about practicum starting from next week and about cultural differences with Bryan.

Bryan mentioned about space between 2 people when they are talking. When I was thinking about the space with professors in BUFS, it was less than 46 cm. They maybe became half-Koreans. kkk

After shopping at Koreana, Young cooked KimChi Stew with pork and we enjoyed together. :-)

Arrival in Sacramento

The flight departing from Inchon to San Francisco was scheduled to take off at 4 sharp but it was delayed about for 30 minutes because of the snow-removing work. Moreover, I went to Kimpo and took a subway to go to Inchon, carrying my heavy backpack. Even though I was extremely tired because of the situations, I could rarely fall asleep in the flight because I couldn't dispelled my sadness of separating from my daughters.

Anyway, I arrived in San Francisco with other 11 trainees smoothly, met Brian Kim who helped us to check in the Quality Inn and went around Arden mall arcade owing to the Holiday, Martin Luther King Jr Day.

For lunch, we dropped by Habit Burger and laughed a lot because of Young's English mistake happening, the one everyone can make- when the staff in the restaurant asked Young if she wanted eat cabbage, carrots, or cheese, she just answered nothing because the questions he asked sounded very trivial and troublesome. However, with Claire's help, she could eat a delicious sandwich, full of vegetables.  kkk

Another funny cultural episode was related with a shower booth in our hotel. Nari and I felt difficult in operating the shower in our room, and we just asked about it to the staff. However, other teachers just took a shower, crouching themselves to the tap or just taking a bath because they couldn't know how to turn on the shower.

I look forward to spending time here in Sacramento as a trainee, but I cannot blocking worrisome about my daughters out. I already miss them too much. ㅠ.ㅠ

+ @ Peet's in front of the hotel we are staying

The coffee was good and I though it would be a good idea for me to read a book or keep my diaries here whenever I have a free time in the evening. Unfortunately, this store closes at 6 0'clock -.-, I had to get out of this store quickly, and my plan of taking my time, drinking coffee suddenly disappeared.
